Harrods Motor Components is a family run business that has supplied car parts and accessories to customers in the Derbyshire and Cheshire area since 1969.

We don’t like to brag but with more than 50 years’ in the motor trade, we know the industry inside and out!

Our Store is full to the brim with car parts, spares, accessories and consumables and we are here to provide you with everything you need for your vehicle six days a week!

The Start

It all started in September 1969, after working in the motor trade for a number of years John decided to open a business with a close friend Alan and they opened A+J Motor Spares in Ashton-Under-Lyne.

The business grew quickly in the 70’s and 80’s and started a delivery service to widen the reach around the local area.

The 90s

In 1990 Harrods had secured a new shop 103 Church Lane. Taking over from Ron Lomas Car Parts, the new venture became a well known figure on Marple high street for years to come.

The 2000s

During the petrol strike in 2000, Harrods still continued to deliver to its customers. We still offer free delivery for our Drivers Club members and trade.

The Battle

In 2004, John Harrod received a surprising letter through the door. It was the lawyers of Harrods department store, demanding the logo must be changed. Unnerved John stood his ground and got his lawyers involved, it was reported worldwide.

John’s son, Mike has been involved in the business from a young age, helping out after school.

John had been in the process of handing over the reins for a number of years and in 2014 Mike stepped up to take over.
In December 2017, the shop on Church Lane was closed for the last time. The business had outgrown the little shop, moving too much larger premises to carry on the growth of the business.

January 2018 the new store opened at Pennine View, Marple.

2018 - 2022

Since the move to Pennine View the business has gone from strength to strength doubling the number of vans on the road as well as the workforce. In addition, to the extra resources in 2020 we expanded our warehouse taking on another premises on Pennine view to handle bulk stock holding.

We are continually looking to increase our stock holding and expand our product range. We have also formed strong ties with Group Auto Union allowing us to offer customers a membership with the Autocare Garage Programme and access to a vast range of workshop equipment. We have also implemented a fully tracked fleet of vans so we can give customers accurate eta information on orders placed.
